How it Works

There are 2 exciting ways to mine: Pan for Gemstones or Dig for Gemstones. Often kids do both, as the assortment of gemstones is different with both mining options.

Here is what each miner gets to do:

At the mining sluice, each miner will receive a bag or bucket of mining rough enriched with gems and fossils from all over the world. Pour some into the screen box and swish it in the water. As you wash away the mine rough, the gemstones and fossils will magically appear revealing their brilliant colors and shapes.

In the Dig for gemstones(in sand) each miner gets a choice of a small or large clear bag and they search thru thousands of polished gemstones, hand picking the ones they want to keep. They sift thru the sand, looking, touching and choosing just the right rocks and gemstones for their special gemstones mining adventure.

Different Types of Bags Available:

Red Bag: Contains 4- 5 ounces of fancy rocks, with a piece of pyrite

Yellow/White Bags: Contains 8-9oz of fancy rocks, an arrowhead, crystal point and a piece of pyrite

Green Bags: (emerald/ruby bag) Most popular bag. Contains 10-11oz. of fancy rocks, plus an arrowhead, a piece of pyrite, 3-5 emeralds and 3-5 rubies

Blue bags: (fossil bag) Sharks teeth and 10-12 other fossils including dino bone, whale bone, dino poop and more.

Our mining program is an educational experience. Each miner will receive a gem chart to help identify their treasures. In each bag of mining rough you could find amethyst, apache tears(obsidian), replica arrowheads, aquamarine, calcite, citrine, emerald, garnet, fools gold, moonstone, orange millennium, peridot, quartz pints, rose quartz, ruby, sapphire, smoky quartz, tiger eye, topaz, criniods, sea urchin, coral orthoceras, shark teeth, fossil bones, petrified wood and many others(all 100% natural).
